We know that a quiet environment is important to help you rest and heal. We will dim the lights, keep your area quiet and try to limit disturbances to help you sleep.


Branches Coffee & Gifts

Branches offers snacks, flowers, plush, personal care items, jewelry, books and unique gifts for all occasions. Please call ext. 7044 or ask your nurse between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to have any items delivered by one of our team members.


Calling Your Nurse

Just press the call button and the nurse will be signaled at the nurses station.


Dining on Call

My Dining automated room service program gives patients the opportunity to order their meals when they are ready to eat, with delivery within 45 minutes by friendly, professional staff.


When you call this service, a Nutrition Operator will help you order your meal. Foods are prepared fresh to order, and you can order breakfast foods at dinner or traditional dinner foods for breakfast. If you forget to order a meal, we’ll make a reminder call. Guest meals are available for family members with the purchase of a $5 voucher.

Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.


Visitors can enjoy a variety of freshly made seasonal entrees, a deli bar, coffee and candy along with our daily grill and station specials. Soups and salads are available in individual to-go containers. Our daily stations change weekly, and our selection of entrees will entice you to visit us daily.


Electrical Appliances

Please do not bring your TV, radio, hairdryer, curling iron or heating pad from home. You will not be allowed to use them due to strict hospital safety regulations.


Fire Safety

We conduct fire drills from time to time. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In an actual emergency, hospital staff will tell you what to do.


Hearing Impaired

For assistance, dial 9 + 711# to reach a Text Telephone (TTY) operator. You can also ask your nurse for TTY phone access.


Hospital Safe

If you cannot send your valuables home, please speak with your nurse about storing them in the hospital safe. Pottstown Hospital cannot be responsible for any valuables left in your room.


Hospitalists

During your stay, you will be treated by hospitalists who work in close consultation with your primary care physician and specialists. They manage your entire hospital experience, from admission until discharge.


ID Bracelet

You may have more than one ID bracelet issued to you upon admission. For your safety, do not remove the bracelet(s) until you leave the hospital. Please remember to remove confidential information prior to discarding.


Interpreter Services

We use a company called CyraCom for interpretation. To reach an interpreter, ask your nurse. It is coordinated and dialed through the nursing staff.


Lost and Found

Please notify your nurse of any lost belongings.


Mail and Flowers

We will deliver mail, packages and flowers to your room. Any mail received after your discharge will be forwarded to your home address.


Please note: Flowers or balloons are not permitted in the ICU. Latex balloons are not permitted in the hospital.


Newspaper

The local newspaper, free magazines and puzzles are available upon request. You may contact a volunteer by dialing ext. 7474, and the item will be delivered to you.


Personal Belongings and Valuables

Personal care items such as contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures can be stored in your bedside stand when not in use. Please do not put them on your bed or food tray to help avoid them being lost or damaged. Leave valuables like jewelry or cash at home, or give them to a trusted relative or friend to watch over. Pottstown Hospital cannot be responsible for replacing personal belongings.


Photo and Video Policy

To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, please follow these rules for taking photo, video and audio recordings (Recordings), and using social media.


  • No Recordings without the consent of a staff member.
  • Some areas allow no Recordings at all. Please respect this guideline.
  • Recordings must always respect the privacy of patients and staff.
  • Recordings may not interfere with the care of the patient.


Anyone who does not respect these guidelines may be asked to stop recording, hand over or destroy the recording, or delete postings to social media.

Public Restrooms

Please do not use the bathrooms in patient rooms. They are reserved only for patients in order to protect their health. Public restrooms are located throughout the hospital.


Rapid Response Team

You can call a critical-care response team to respond if your condition worsens and you do not get the immediate care you need. Contact your nurse or dial 42 on the bedside phone to request this special service.


How to Call Rapid Response

Step 1: Dial 42 on the bedside phone.

Step 2: Tell the operator:

  • Your name
  • Room number
  • Patient’s name
  • Your concern

Step 3: The Rapid Response Team will be sent to your room.


Smoking

For our patients, visitors and staff, we are a smoke-free hospital. This includes all electronic smoking devices such as e-cigarettes and vapors. You can request a nicotine replacement alternative from your physician.


Spiritual Care

Clergy are welcome to visit their church members at any time. Spiritual health counseling is available to all patients. To arrange a visit from the chaplain, or to arrange for special religious needs, dial 610-327-7134 or ask a nurse to assist you.


Telephone

For all local calls, dial 9 + 10-digit number. For long-distance calls, dial 9 + 0 + 10-digit telephone number. Long-distance calls must be charged either to your home phone or credit card, or made collect. You may receive calls from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.


TV

Each patient room has a TV. Please be considerate of others by keeping the TV volume down and turning off your TV at bedtime.


Volunteers

We have an active Volunteer Services department that gives thousands of hours to Pottstown Hospital to enhance the care of our patients and families. If you would like more information, contact Sharon Steinmetz at 610-327-7136. Volunteers should be a minimum of 14 years old.


Your Hospital Bed

The controls for your bed are located on the side rails. Unless your doctor orders otherwise, you can raise or lower your bed to find the most comfortable angles for you.
